JLG Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Header Short HosesKit
The JLG diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) header short hoses kit is an array of hoses, sensors, and heating elements used to transfer the non-hazardous solution created during operation to the exhaust streams of telehandlers (extendable booms), rough terrain forklifts, and other material handlers in the JLG family.
This specific kit is used for the replacement of the DEF Header and hoses used on JLG telehandlers 1055 & 1255. The non-hazardous solution is made up of 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water that is ultimately removed from the machines via the exhaust streams of the 1055 and 1255 telehandlers.
Maintenence issues with the DEF system are not uncommon, and can be caused by several different things. Coolant tubes can spring leaks, which can also lead to dirt contamination. You can see if your coolant is dirty by simply shining a flashlight through the tubes, as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is clear.
Crystallization is another common issue caused by contamination in the DEF, and several minerals (calcium being the most common) can cause the fluid in your telehandler to start crystallizing, ultimately meaning your DEF is not functioning as it should.
Failing sensors also mean a DEF header/hose replacement, and they are included in the JLG Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Header Short Hoses Kit.
